Easycart vs. Paddle: Which will meet your needs?

At Easycart, we’re all about simplicity. We’ve designed our platform to make selling your digital products as easy as pie. No website? No problem. With Easycart, you can start selling online right away. Plus, our no-code tool is easy to implement and use. On the other hand, Paddle demands you to own a website and won’t let you start selling until they’ve given it a thorough inspection. Imagine the disappointment if your sales launch gets delayed or worse, can’t happen at all because you didn’t meet certain criteria. Doesn’t sound too appealing, does it?

What keeps Paddle users up at night?

Paddle caters its services to SaaS companies. While smaller creators or individuals can also use their solutions, Paddle primarily focuses on the big players in the IT industry. This doesn't mean they disregard smaller sellers. However, what causes concern is customer support and service. Unfortunately, in case of problems, you usually talk to a bot.

As a Merchant of Record, Paddle essentially sells your products on your behalf. Numerous online comments suggest this can be problematic, for instance, when a user is incorrectly charged for an additional month of subscription. To seek help, the invoice lists Paddle's contact information. This leads to numerous posts from frustrated users asking, "Who is Paddle, and why did they charge me?" Paddle has even created a dedicated page where a user can check what they were charged for by entering their email. It seems there are many such inquiries, and just adding the seller's name to the invoice does not solve the problem.

With Easycart, your details appear on the invoice, and your customers always know exactly who they purchased from. They know who they've transacted with and can easily contact you in case of any questions or problems.

Customer portal and content gating

When your customers purchase digital products, they anticipate immediate access. They also want the convenience of returning to their purchased items and managing them easily. These are standard expectations and not unreasonable ones.

Easycart

In Easycart, we automatically create a buyer's account for customers making their first purchase with our cart, unless you, as a seller, choose anonymous shopping. In all other scenarios, customers can access the customer panel to view purchased products and subscriptions, manage their profile, browse and download digital products, handle subscriptions and payment methods, and request refunds or invoice detail changes.

Easycart also includes a "login wall" feature to protect your products. With just five minutes of setup, you can secure access to a specific page. Visitors will be automatically verified by us. If the client has made a purchase and is logged into Easycart (as is usually the case), the login wall will grant them access to the product page. If not, a login window (branded with your logo) will appear. Those with product access can comfortably log in using a password or a magic link sent to their email. All others will be redirected to the cart to purchase access to the product.

Paddle

Paddle lacks tools to restrict content access, suggesting that sellers seek out other solutions to secure their products. This is because anyone with the link can download your product without authorization.

Paddle currently does not have a customer portal, though they plan to launch one this year. Its design and functionality remain unknown, as well as whether it will meet expectations. However, Easycart already provides these features.

Easylove: Customer reviews

There's a high chance that you, like many, read product reviews and testimonials before making a purchase decision. You want to understand other users' experiences, especially when you're uncertain about a product or service's quality. Your customers behave in the same way.

Easycart

Easycart is part of the Easytools suite, which includes a dedicated tool for gathering customer reviews—Easylove. Easycart and Easylove work together to automate and simplify the process of collecting customer testimonials. They also allow you to display reviews as a "wall of love" on your website or directly in your cart.

In Easycart, you can automate requests for reviews after a purchase. You just need to set how long after the purchase the customer should receive an email. If you want to request reviews from past customers, you can easily craft a message in the dashboard and send it to many recipients at once.

Reviews from Easylove can be displayed in your cart - above the price, under price variants, or at the bottom of the cart in a carousel. You also have the freedom to customize the look of the reviews—change the color scheme, view type, text layout, and enable or disable avatars and stars next to the review. You can also import reviews from Google and then sort them by date or star rating.

Paddle

Paddle primarily focuses on processing payments and settlements, and does not support collecting product reviews. While these functions are important, running a business involves more than just invoices and taxes.

If you're using Paddle or planning to do so, be aware that you'll be responsible for collecting reviews. This involves selecting the right tool, setting up the integration, and then either automating or manually collecting and publishing reviews, which can be time-consuming.

1-click payments

One-click payments greatly streamline and speed up online shopping. With a single click on the "pay" button, the transaction is complete. There's no need to repeatedly fill in data fields or navigate through lengthy forms and multi-step purchase processes. This quick and simple method of finalizing payments enhances user experience and increases the likelihood of visitors becoming customers.

Easycart

Our experiences, along with numerous studies, highlight the significant impact of 1-click payments on the purchasing process and conversion rate. It's an effect so profound that we've integrated it into our Easycart system from day one. Every customer who has made a purchase through any seller on our platform becomes part of our network. We securely store their payment details, enabling them to make future purchases with just one click in any checkout created with Easycart, eliminating the need to fill in data. For instance, if a returning customer enters your cart, the payment can be completed in mere seconds.

What if your customer doesn't have an Easycart account? No problem! Our checkout process is simple and only requires essential information. Even if the customer has to fill out a few fields, we ensure the payment process is as quick as possible.

Furthermore, Easycart features a Pay-what-you-want option, empowering your customers to determine the value of your product. We also facilitate installment purchases and deferred payments. Easycart supports a broad spectrum of payment methods and multiple currencies. We accommodate all modern payment forms, including quick transfers through Przelewy24, BLIK, card payments, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Paddle

Paddle currently does not allow your customers to make one-click payments. According to official data, they plan to introduce this feature, but not until the second half of 2024. This is great proof that one-click payments are indeed a crucial feature that has a real impact on the effectiveness of the purchasing process.

Like Easycart, the Paddle platform offers its sellers access to all modern payment methods. Paddle also has a payment method localization feature, which shows users the most popular payment forms in their region. It also allows for automatic adjustment of language and currency in the cart based on the active language in the user's internet browser. However, it does not allow for installment purchases and deferred payments. It also does not offer a Pay-what-you-want feature.

Affiliate links

Affiliate marketing is an effective way to promote products in return for a small commission on sales. It provides an additional avenue for reaching customers through dependable partners, helping you attain your revenue targets more swiftly.

Easycart

Easycart allows you to generate an unlimited number of affiliate links easily and track your partners' performance. You can create an affiliate link by adding a specific parameter to the URL or simply selecting “Copy link for partner” when publishing your product. The Easycart seller panel enables you to track sales results from your affiliate links. The “Referrals” tab displays detailed sales statistics for each of your partners. Furthermore, using integrations can automate settlements with partners.

Paddle

Paddle used to offer an affiliate program, but it is no longer available. If you want others to promote your business, you must use external solutions, which can complicate the process. Such a method requires integrating with an additional tool and does not provide all your sales data in one place.

Purchasing for others

This feature is not only beneficial for software subscriptions (where a buyer can purchase multiple licenses and assign them to their employees), but also for digital products and event tickets.

Easycart

In Easycart, the "purchasing for others" feature is applicable to both single payments and subscription products. It can also be paired with the ability to purchase multiple units. As a result, your customers can conveniently buy a subscription for selected employees or even for the entire company. Each assignee will receive an email notification about access to their subscription or product. However, they can't modify the subscription. Only the buyer, who acts as the administrator, can manage it.

This feature is also effective for other digital products, such as e-books or event tickets. Indeed, Easycart, in contrast to Paddle, enables you to sell event tickets. If you're organizing conferences, workshops, or other business events, Easycart makes ticket sales and verification a breeze. All you need to do is activate the options for multiple unit purchases and buying for others. Then, each user can snag as many tickets as they want and assign them to specific people, much like subscriptions. You can also whip up a unique QR code for each ticket. This lets you confirm the ticket by scanning the code with a phone during the event. Plus, our seller panel’s QR code scanning feature lets you check ticket details, like the type of package the attendee bought, and remove or add bonus credits for recurring events.

Paddle

Paddle focuses on managing subscriptions, targeting software industry companies. If you’ve used Paddle or researched it, you know that you can sell digital products (like e-books) or software there. However, you can’t sell tickets or entry passes. If you plan to conduct workshops or organize a conference, you’ll need to find another solution for ticket sales.

Dynamic pricing

As a seller, you know how important it is to manage prices flexibly. Sometimes, you want to sell the same product at different prices. With Easycart, you can do this with just a few clicks!

Easycart

The dynamic pricing feature in Easycart allows you to sell the same product or service at different prices. Simply send your customer a link with your chosen price, like setting it at $249 USD instead of $199 USD. You can do this in the product panel under the sharing tab. There's an option labeled "Share with price..." where you input your desired price. No need to create duplicate products to adjust prices.

Easycart also offers great flexibility with pricing and promotions. With the "old price" feature, you can show a crossed-out original price alongside the new discounted price. This highlights the savings for customers, potentially prompting quicker purchase decisions.

Paddle

Paddle does not offer dynamic pricing features. However, you can set more than one price for a product and add country-specific prices. Additionally, it is up to you to decide whether the prices should include tax or not. At Easycart, we offer the "net price priority" feature in this place—the net price appears as the main price (at the top, in larger font), and below it is the gross price, which is charged at the time of purchase.

Easycart - An alternative to Paddle not just for SaaS businesses

Although Easycart and Paddle share the same goal—to support online sales—they differ significantly. Paddle targets SaaS businesses, while Easycart caters to owners of companies and digital creators across various industries. You might wonder if our tools lack refinement due to supporting a broad range of creators, unlike Paddle's industry-specific focus. Fear not! Our platform offers a plethora of features meticulously crafted by individuals with over 15 years of online selling experience.

Additional tools

Easycart offers features that enhance the effectiveness of your sales, whether you're selling access to an app, an e-book, conducting Japanese classes, or organizing creative writing workshops. Moreover, Easycart is part of Easytools—a no-code suite of tools supporting your online sales. Alongside online sales, Easytools enable you to generate terms of service and privacy policies, showcase product/service reviews, track promotion end times, incorporate a FAQ section on your site, create a course platform, and much more!

Lower fees and fair pricing plans

Let's talk money. Paddle charges a reasonable commission of 5% + 50¢ per transaction. In comparison, Easycart's commission is even more attractive, starting at just 0.95%! We offer three pricing plans tailored to varying sales levels:

  • Entrepreneur - 0.95% (sales above 20,000 PLN per month)
  • Side Project - 1.95% (sales between 10,000 PLN and 20,000 PLN per month)
  • Starter - 2.95% (sales between 1,000 PLN and 10,000 PLN per month)

For sales below 1,000 PLN per month, we charge a monthly fee of 29 PLN. You can use Easycart for free until your first sale, and as your earnings grow, our commission decreases.

Integrations that save time

If you're a digital creator seeking a platform to streamline sales and online business management, Easycart is your go-to solution. Our intuitive tool integrates seamlessly with various external platforms like GetResponse, Discord, Circle, Mailchimp, and WordPress. You can explore the full list of native integrations available in Easycart here.
