Connect legal documents to checkout

Simplify checkout compliance with Easylegal & Easycart integration. Link legal docs effortlessly for transparent, worry-free shopping.

One of the key locations where you definitely should link your legal documents is your checkout. It is in both your and your customers' interest to ensure they are fully aware of your return policy or fully agree to how you will process their data BEFORE they click “Purchase”.

The requirement to include a privacy policy link at the checkout page can be mandated by data protection laws and regulations, such as the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) in the EU or the CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) in California. Payment providers may also have their own policies or guidelines that recommend or require the inclusion of a privacy policy link in checkout.

The integration between Easylegal and Easycart allows you to easily add your legal docs to your checkout in literally a few clicks.

Option 1 - Adding legal docs to a specific checkout

When you sell different products or run several businesses, you may want to add different legal docs to each checkout. Here’s how you can incorporate legal documents into a specific product:

  1. Go to the Store tab in Easytools dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Products.
  3. Choose the product to which you want to add documents.
  4. Go to Checkout ➔ Legal and refunds.
  5. In the Terms & Privacy section, add your own link or click Generate Easylegal.
  6. When you upload the proper links or Easylegal projects, click Save.
When you choose Generate Easylegal, you will see a simple form that will allow you to select an existing project on Easylegal or create new legal docs from scratch. In this second option, you will be redirected to the Easylegal builder.

After integrating your checkout with Easylegal, the documents will automatically appear in your checkout form. And if you make any adjustments in the future, they will automatically reflect in your checkout.

Option 2 - Adding legal docs globally

Alternatively, if you use the same legal documents for all your products, you can add them globally in your store settings.

Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Go to the Store tab in Easytools dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Store settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Legal pages section.
  4. Input your own links or click Generate Easylegal to add or create your documents.
  5. Select an existing project if you have already created your documents.
  6. Or, click +Create new terms and privacy to go straight to the Easylegal editor.
Make sure to publish your Easylegal project before linking your documents to your store or checkout. Projects that were not published won’t be visible in your cart.
