Subscriptions

Subscriptions are recurring payments often associated with the SaaS (Software as a Service) model. Many consider them the Holy Grail of payments because they allow automatic billing on a set cycle. However, subscriptions are also a great model for creators who can sell community access or timed access, generating recurring, reliable revenue (MRR). You could say subscriptions are the closest to the "earn while you sleep" model.

In practice, we highly recommend experimenting with different models and adding subscriptions to your products. Continuously providing value and offering updates doesn't have to be free. With this model, you can also sell:

• Newsletters
• Community access
• Software
• Recurring meetings, like masterminds
• Consultations

Available options for subscriptions

Easycart supports many options that allow you to experiment with recurring payments. Some possibilities include:

Subscription plan options include:

• Setting renewals to monthly, daily, weekly, or yearly. You can also set the subscription to renew every few cycles, such as every 3 months.
• Enabling a trial period and adjusting its duration.
• Automatically canceling the subscription after a set number of cycles. For example, after 12 monthly payments, the subscription will automatically stop, and no further payments will be taken.
• If you choose automatic cancellation, you can decide whether to maintain access to the product after this period, simulating an installment payment.
• Allowing the purchase of multiple subscriptions at once—this option, combined with the purchase for someone else feature, enables buying corporate subscriptions and then assigning them to employees. The buyer can manage the subscription and its assignments.

Within a single product, you can create different variants—one can be a subscription, another a fixed price. This way, you give customers the option to choose the plan they prefer. If your product is more expensive, some might prefer to pay for it via subscription.

Email notifications

Easycart handles sending transactional emails, including purchase notifications, upcoming renewal notices, and renewal failure alerts. You can customize which emails are sent and when. Learn more in the transactional emails section.

Managing subscriptions

In the Creator portal, you can manage subscriptions associated with your orders. Go to Store → Orders, then click on an order to view its details. In the newly opened tab, you'll find a Cancel subscription section, where you can cancel a subscription:

• Immediately, causing the customer to lose access to the product right away.
• At the end of the current cycle, allowing access to the product until the end of the paid billing period.

In both cases, you'll receive detailed information about what will happen before confirming the action. This action does not send a notification to the customer.

You can also manage subscription details within your Stripe dashboard—enter the customer's email address in the search bar, and you'll easily find their subscription. The Stripe dashboard also provides access to additional options, such as pausing the subscription or making more advanced billing changes.
